It was a pitcher’s dual for the front half of Game 1 of today’s doubleheader. Erick Fedde made his 19th start of the season and 8th at home. He got out of a bases loaded jam in the top of the 1st and was dominate after, tossing a total of 5.0 innings while allowing only 4 hits and striking out 5 Twins.
Paul DeJong broke the game open in the 5th inning on a sacrifice fly to left field, scoring Gavin Sheets.
In the bottom of the 6th, Luis Robert Jr. blasts his 11th home run of the season 416 feet, bringing home Andrew Vaughn and extending the Sox lead by 2.
The Twins attempted a comeback in the top of the 7th inning with a solo home run from Matt Wallner, but that was all they could muster.
Pitchers Justin Anderson, Jordan Leasure, John Brebbia and Michael Kopech all threw an inning each. Anderson fanned 1 and Brebbia struck out 2 back-to-back. Michael Kopech slammed the door with an immaculate inning, tossing 9 strikes on 9 total pitches!
The Chicago White Sox defeat the Minnesota Twins, 3–1, on July 10 at Guaranteed Rate Field in Chicago, Illinois.
