Jonathan Cannon took the mound for the White Sox against Framber Valdez and the Houston Astros. Cannon pitched 8.2 innings with four strikeouts and one walk.
In the bottom of the third inning, the White Sox bats came to life. Danny Mendick singled and Korey Lee walked. Both runners advanced on a wild pitch from Framber Valdez. Tommy Pham drew another walk to load the bases. Andrew Vaughn grounded into a fielder’s choice and Mendick scored to put the Sox on the board.
With the Astros threatening in the top of the fifth, Korey Lee threw out Trey Cabbage trying to steal second to end the inning.
In the bottom of the fifth, Framber Valdez walked three to load the bases for Andrew Vaughn. Vaughn hit into a fielder’s choice allowing Corey Julks to score which extended the White Sox lead to 2–0.
The Astros put together another threat in the top of the seventh, and Jonathan Cannon forced Jake Myers to hit a ground ball to Danny Mendick who threw out Victor Caratini to end the inning.
Jonathan Cannon came one out away from a complete game. John Brebbia came in to finish the White Sox shutout of the Astros.
