KANSAS CITY, Mo. — So can we expect to see Timothée Chalamet at the Super Bowl on Sunday?
And if so, is he a Chiefs or Eagles fan?
The Academy Award best actor nominee (“A Complete Unknown”) did an interview with halftime performer Kendrick Lamar that dropped Friday.
Chalamet, a soccer fan, said he is looking forward to finding out what songs Lamar will perform Sunday and excited to “see the vibe in New Orleans, a city I’ve never been.”
He’s been part of Super Bowl pageantry though, paying homage to Edward Scissorhands in a 2021 Super Bowl commercial for Cadillac.
Lamar was spotted in the New Orleans convention center where preparations for the halftime show took place. He also was part of a “moderated conversation” on Thursday about the performance.
He will be the first solo rap artist to headline a Super Bowl halftime show. Fellow Grammy winner, SZA, who will tour with him this summer, will join him.
Lamar is just part of the celebrity vortex that has shifted south to the Big Easy this week where by now stars have assembled to entertain, party and, oh yeah, watch the Super Bowl game.
The brightest among them, Taylor Swift, is expected to be there Sunday to cheer on boyfriend Travis Kelce, Chiefs tight end, for a second year in a row.
Pictures have popped up online of Swift and BFF Selena Gomez at a Beverly Hills bar earlier this week. Swift is holding up three fingers on one hand.
Watch the Super Bowl ads: Celebrities, sloths, silliness — and a few surprises
Three, huh? Number of cocktails she had? Number of Super Bowls the Chiefs will win?
She had a squad of stars with her in Las Vegas for the Super Bowl last year and the guessing game is underway about who she might bring this year.
Here are the celebrities who are lined up and possible appearances, including celebs who root for the Chiefs and Eagles.
The pregame parties, concerts
Music. There’s always big-name music during Super Bowl week.
Friday is a busy concert night.
Chris Stapleton, Jelly Roll and Shaboozey will headline Madden Bowl 2025 at the city’s historic Orpheum Theater.
The Bud Light Backyard concert stars Post Malone, Swift’s collaborator on “Fortnight.”
“Friday Night. New Orleans. Super Bowl. A couple cold ones with my fans? Let’s get this party started!” Malone said in a statement.
(Might we see him with Swift at the game?)
Blink-182 and Megan Thee Stallion are set to headline the FanDuel Party Powered by Spotify where celebrities from sports and entertainment are expected to walk down a blue carpet before the show.
Travis Scott will headline the One Party by Uber, while Ludacris and Shaquille O’Neal perform at the NBA legend’s seventh annual Shaq’s Fun House party.
Rapper Master P was planning to host a party at a spot down the street from where the Chiefs are staying in the Crescent City on Friday night, too.
Taylor’s suite squad
Last year, Swift arrived in Vegas with a posse to watch the Chiefs defeat the San Francisco 49ers, a group that included Blake Lively, Ice Spice and longtime friend Ashley Avignone.
The crowd inside Allegiant Stadium cheered when Swift appeared on the big screen before the game. From that point on, the game off the field became “what’s Taylor doing now?”
She watched from a suite at about midfield, right behind the 49ers’ side, which gave her a good view of the Chiefs bench.
Before the game, Jason Kelce, Travis Kelce’s brother and now retired Eagles center, visited Swift in her suite and hugged her. He stuck around, wearing a “Big Yeti” (his brother’s nickname) Chiefs T-shirt and chugging beers.
Jason and Travis recorded the latest episode of their “New Heights” podcast from New Orleans, and Jason is expected to be on hand to cheer for his kid brother.
Kylie Kelce, Jason’s wife, stopped by last year, too. So did, notably, NFL commissioner Roger Goodell. Kylie, who is pregnant with the couple’s fourth child, has said she won’t be in New Orleans.
The Vegas Super Bowl was a big family affair, with Swift’s mom and dad, Scott Swift and Andrea Swift, and Kelce’s parents, Donna Kelce and Ed Kelce, in the suite.
Ed Kelce is already in New Orleans, seen eating breakfast on Canal Street, a short distance from the Chiefs hotel.
The Super Bowl was Ice Spice’s first Chiefs game of the season. Video of the rapper, fresh from appearing with Swift at the Grammys, entering the stadium with Swift and Lively went viral.
Lana Del Rey, Swift’s “Midnights” collaborator, sat in front of the singer’s suite and the two women reached over a barrier to grab each other’s hands before the game.
New Orleans media note that Del Rey’s new husband, swamp tour guide Jeremy Dufrene, hails from Des Allemands, Louisiana, which might bring her out to this game.
Celebrity watchers are curious about whether Lively, though, will return. The actress is embroiled in a nasty legal dispute with “It Ends With Us” director Justin Baldoni that could spill onto Swift if she is called to testify when the case goes to trial.
New Orleans media have suggested that Swift’s good friend Zoe Kravitz, daughter of musician and former French Quarter resident Lenny Kravitz, could score an invite to the suite.
Kansas City celebs there?
Paul Rudd, the Shawnee Mission West grad and Marvel movie star, has attended multiple Super Bowl games with the Chiefs. But he’s in Australia filming a movie and it’s not clear if he will make it to New Orleans.
Fellow Big Slick co-star Eric Stonestreet also has attended previous Super Bowls when the Chiefs have played and it would be a surprise if he wasn’t there Sunday.
Kansas City native and “Saturday Night Live” cast member Heidi Gardner might be free to attend since this weekend’s episode is a rerun as the show gears up for its 50th anniversary special on Feb. 16.
Once the plucky underdog, the Kansas City Chiefs have become the NFL juggernaut fans love to hate
Kansas City rapper Tech N9ne, who sings the seminal Chiefs anthem “Red Kingdom” was seen at Super Bowl Radio Row on Thursday, so there’s a chance he’ll be on hand Sunday to cheer for the Chiefs.
Academy Award-winning actor Morgan Freeman and Emmy Award-winner Henry Winkler are Chiefs fans who usually cheer from afar. But Winkler is known to post messages on social media during a game.
Another Oscar winner, Brad Pitt, is a big Chiefs fan, too, and he roasted one of the Eagles’ biggest supporters a year ago. At the Santa Barbara International Film Festival, Pitt presented the outstanding performer award to actor Bradley Cooper.
“To date he’s been nominated 12 times … and I do hope that this is his year because it’s well overdue,” Pitt said. “But if it’s not, it’s OK. Everyone knows it’s just a matter of time. And truly Brad is OK, he’s fine. He’s used to it. He’s a Philadelphia Eagles fan. Go Chiefs! Go Chiefs!”
Chiefs fans are hoping that karma doesn’t bite Pitt on that one.
Rocky and the Eagles
So there was this 1976 movie filmed in Philadelphia that made the actor playing boxer Rocky Balboa a star. Maybe you’ve seen Sylvester Stallone’s breakout hit?
The City of Brotherly Love is a special place for Stallone, and Philly loves him back. The Eagles play the “Rocky” theme song before every home game. And the famous Rocky statue still stands at the Philadelphia Art Museum where Rocky triumphantly ran up the steps in the movie.
The Eagles boast a long list of celebrity cheerleaders. Will Smith. Tina Fey. CNBC’s Jim Cramer. The cast of “It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia” — of course.
Comedian Kevin Hart, a Philly native, is a super fan. This week he announced on Instagram, in an ad for Gran Coramino tequila, that he bought another eagle. He bought his first one the last time the Eagles played in the Super Bowl.
He claimed to have paid $12 million for the new bird, named Saquon after Eagles running back Saquon Barkley. The other bird is Jalen, for QB Jalen Hurts.
Hard to know if he’s serious.
Stallone now has a link to Kelce. One of the actor’s daughters, Sophia Stallone, appeared on a recently aired episode of the game show Kelce hosts, “Are You Smarter than a Celebrity?”
Stallone delivered a video message to Kelce during the show.
“If you’re ever in Philadelphia I’ll race you up the steps and give you a big head start. Just kidding,” Stallone told him. “Welcome to Hollywood and keep punching.”
Stallone, Mel Gibson and Jon Voight were recently named “special ambassadors” to Hollywood by President Donald Trump, who is expected at the game.
So perhaps a Stallone sighting in New Orleans is more than wishful thinking for Rocky fans?
Pennsylvania native and Oscar nominated actor Bradley Cooper is another well-known Eagles fan. He played one in “Silver Linings Playbook” opposite Jennifer Lawrence.
Like Stallone, Cooper has a connection to Kelce, though a more personal one.
Cooper dates model Gigi Hadid, a longtime Swift BFF whose mother, Yolanda Hadid, has a farm in Pennsylvania where she and sister, Bella Hadid, ride horses, according to Glamour.
The two couples spent time on the beach in California last spring during one of Swifts breaks from the Eras Tour. Then Cooper and Hadid joined Kelce at Swift’s last show in Paris in May.
Cooper has met Mama Kelce, too.
Two years ago Howard Stern asked Cooper if he’d rather win an Oscar for “Maestro” or see the Eagles win the Super Bowl.
“Eagles Super Bowl victory,” Cooper said. “Yeah, I know, I’m sick.”
He lost the Oscar.
