The South Siders take on Freddy Peralta and the Brew Crew to kick off a three-game set in Chicago
Ahead of today’s game, the White Sox announced that the No. 5 prospect, Braden Montgomery, was promoted to High-A ball and will be joining the Winston-Salem Dash!

In less happy news, it was also reported that Colson Montgomery would be heading to Arizona to work on his swing and focus on improving his offense away from Charlotte. There is currently no timetable on when he will return to the Knights, but let’s hope it works in Colson’s favor and he can get it together.
Getz says #WhiteSox are sending Colson Montgomery to Arizona to get more one on one work to focus on his swing away from Charlotte. Says it won’t be for a long stretch but there’s been examples in past of doing this with players like Mackenzie Gore and Geraldo Perdomo. @WGNNews

The Chicago White Sox (7-21) will host the Milwaukee Brewers (14-15) in a three-game set as they kick off a six-game homestand on the South Side. The Good Guys are coming off yet another brutal extra-inning loss against the Athletics on Sunday, and are looking to (somehow) bounce back against a tough Milwaukee team. The Brew Crew are 4-6 in their last 10, and will have their ace, Freddy Peralta, on the mound, making his seventh start of the year.
Peralta has been quite effective in 2025, leaving 85% of runners on base while keeping them off by walking batters at a very low 8.1% walk rate. Peralta is sitting at a 2.43 ERA with a 1.080 WHIP on the year, and is sure to be a tough matchup for a White Sox team that ranks last in OPS. Run support could be less of an issue for the Brewers, especially with batters like Jackson Chourio, who is mashing a .737 slugging percentage and 1.158 OPS over the past week.

While Bryse Wilson previously had filled in for Martín Pérez while on the IL, Tyler Gilbert is making the start for the South Siders, who have been heavily utilizing the “opener” role in recent games. This will be the third start for Gilbert, who has struggled a bit thus far with a 5.87 ERA and a 1.304 WHIP.
The South Siders are actually hitting better as a team over the last seven days with a .748 OPS, tied for 11th with the Kansas City Royals. Miguel Vargas has started to see the ball a bit better and has a 1.108 OPS in the last seven days (five games). Edgar Quero has also been impressive since joining the big league squad, and he is getting on base more than anyone on the team with a .462 on-base percentage over 11 games.

Unfortunately, there’s still no word on when Tim Elko will be called up to the majors. Sun-Times reporter Kyle Williams posted a video of Chris Getz on Tuesday in which he was asked about Elko and his promotion timeline. Getz quite literally had nothing but good things to say about Elko, and really just spewed out a bunch of lawyer speak. That’s great that he’s doing well; we know that! So, when is he going to come up!?
