Two mediocre teams face off
Today, the White Sox face the semi-homeless Athletics for the first time this year. Both teams have been mediocre, mostly due to horrendous ownership not giving a damn about what happens or who is signed. I suspect both teams will be dealing with an uphill battle in 2025, only to end the season in last place. Rinse and repeat in years to come, at least until both teams are under new ownership.
With all that said, let’s see what this matchup looks like.
The White Sox have Sean Burke starting today, with a few familiar faces in the lineup. Burke’s last start was solid, pitching two innings against the Padres, allowing just one hit and one walk with two strikeouts. The Padres won, 3-1, but all things considered so far, that’s not bad for the Sox.

The Athletics have Joey Estes on the mound. Estes ended his last outing going two innings with one strikeout, one hit, and one earned run. He ended his 2024 season with an ERA of 5.01, so the Sox might have a chance against him.
