An Opening Day preview
Friends — we are officially one week away from Opening Day! Today’s matchup will be a bit of a preview of Chicago’s opening series against the Angels.
The White Sox dropped one more player off of the MLB roster today, as Oscar Colás was optioned to Charlotte. With 41 players on the roster, there are still 15 cuts to go!

Chase Meidroth getting the start at shortstop might not indicate too much, but him starting at such a key spot just a week from Opening Day at the very least says he’s opened up some eyes. With Lenyn Sosa at third base and Nick Maton at second, along with Miguel Vargas getting some additional run at first, this is probably all just one of the last chances to throw some different looks on the field, as every day gets closer to final roster decisions. Players like Maton and leadoff man Travis Jankowski face uphill climbs into the regular season, having to beat out White Sox system players and onto the precious, 40-man roster.

If you have FanDuel Sports West you can watch the Angels network, or MLB Network (out-of-market only). Otherwise, you’ll likely miss the game being televised. First pitch is 3:05 p.m. CT.
