Here we go again …
Welcome to the first Sunday edition of White Sox baseball this season! I’ll be back to cover the mess every week, so what better way to start than today. The Chicago White Sox will take on the Kansas City Royals at Surprise Stadium, and the send out Tyler Gilbert to face Kris Bubic.
If you’re like me and don’t know who the heck Tyler Gilbert is, he was traded to the South Siders from the Philadelphia Phillies this offseason. The 31-year-old veteran was drafted in 2015 but saw an MLB field for the first time in 2021, with the Arizona Diamondbacks. He has a career ERA of 4.23, but only 13 career starts.
Bubic has spent his entire career thus far with the Royals, and spent a year recovering from Tommy John surgery before returning last June. The lefty looks to be a solid arm for the Royals this season, as he is still only 27.

Oh look, there’s the best player in the lineup today, Andrew Benintendi. A whole lot of new names too, who you’ve probably seen in and out of the minor leagues with different teams over the years. The most promising to me is either Josh Rojas or Austin Slater, if we REALLY have to pick…
No way to watch for either team, but you can listen in at MLB.tv with a Royals radio feed.
