Can the South Siders sweep those other Sox outta Chicago?
Happy Sunday! It’s always good to wake up on a beautiful Sunday with a chance to sweep a series. Today, the Boston Red Sox and Chicago White Sox will face off in the Battle of the Sox, as the good Sox look to extend their winning streak to three games. It seems like a good opportunity with Shane Smith on the mound — but the obstacle will be our very dear old friend, Garrett Crochet.
Smith is appearing in his third start of the season, as he has a 1.54 ERA in 11 2⁄3 innings. He has nine strikeouts in his first two outings combined, and his last outing against the Cleveland Guardians was another gem: six innings with two hits, one walk, and six strikeouts.
Crochet, Boston’s Opening Day starter, will make his fourth start of the season. The southpaw has a 1-1 record, 1.45 ERA, and 17 strikeouts in 18 2⁄3 innings pitched. While two of his outings have been on the short side, he did pitch an amazing game against the Baltimore Orioles where he went eight innings of scoreless baseball, with eight strikeouts. We will see which version of him shows up today, but let’s hope that we can hold him force him into a quicker outing.

Miguel Vargas leads it off, as the hot-hitting Luis Robert Jr. is in the 2-spot. Lenyn Sosa, Andrew Vaughn, and Michael A. Taylor follow. Chase Meidroth and the hero of last night, Brooks Baldwin, will be next, and Matt Thaiss and Jake Amaya close it out.

Game time is 1:10 p.m. CT on CHSN. Listen in at ESPN1000. All I want for my birthday is a White Sox sweep. Let’s see if they can do it.
