Starting pitcher Garrett Crochet didn’t waste any time getting his first strikeout on the first batter of the game. He tossed a total of 6.0 innings, striking out 4 while not allowing a single hit until the bottom of the fifth inning.
White Sox offense struck first in the second. Korey Lee reached base on a throwing error by third baseman Ernie Clement. Nicky Lopez knocked an RBI single to score Lee on an electric slide home.
Corey Julks tacked on two more runs in the top of the fifth inning after an Andrew Vaughn walk and Eloy Jiménez double.
In the top of the eighth, Danny Mendick launched a 2-RBI double off the top of the left field wall to score Paul DeJong and Dominic Fletcher and put the Sox up 5–0.
White Sox pitching staff was lights out. After Crochet’s dominate performance, John Brebbia held down the seventh inning. Jordan Leasure and Michael Kopech slammed the door, striking out 5 Blue Jays in the eighth and ninth inning. Overall, pitchers held Toronto to only two hits.
