After a loss in the first game, the White Sox evened the doubleheader with Erick Fedde on the mound for Game 2. Fedde went seven shutout innings with 6 strikeouts. Jordan Leasure and Michael Kopech came in for relief.
In the bottom of the 3rd, Rafael Ortega reached first base on a bunt and stole second. Tommy Pham walked on a wild pitch ball four which advanced Ortega to third. Andrew Vaughn blasted a three-run home run to give the White Sox an early 3–0 lead.
Tommy Pham ended the Nationals threat in the top of the 6th with a great sliding catch. He then led off the bottom of the sixth for the White Sox with a base hit to center.
Andrew Vaughn added an insurance run with his second multihomer game of his career. The White Sox extended the lead 4–0 in the bottom of the eighth.
Washington had runners at second and third in the top of the ninth. Andrew Benintendi made a diving catch for the third out securing the shutout victory for the White Sox.
The Chicago White Sox defeated the Washington Nationals at Guaranteed Rate Field on Tuesday, May 14 by a score of 4–0.
