Tim Anderson’s first home run of the season highlighted the White Sox win against the Cleveland Guardians. The White Sox earned their second straight win against their A.L. Central Division foe posting a final score of 7–2.
Starting pitcher Mike Clevinger had himself a day, going 5.0 innings pitched and only giving up two hits. Clevinger’s performance was aided by Zach Remillard’s diving catch in left field in the first inning.
Tim Anderson opened the bottom of the first inning with a home run to deep left field. Anderson crushed his first home run of the season 429 feet.
With the bases loaded in the bottom of the fifth inning, Yoán Moncada drove a line drive to center field for an RBI single. The hit increased the lead to three runs.
In the bottom of the sixth inning the Good Guys tacked on two more insurance runs. Eloy Jiménez drew a walk to leadoff the inning. Andrew Vaughn stepped up to the plate and crushed his 13th home run of the year to boost the lead to 5–0.
Jesse Scholtens and Keynan Middleton limited the damage in the sixth and seventh inning, holding Cleveland to a single run scored in the top of the seventh inning.
The Sox kept rolling in the seventh inning, with Zach Remillard drawing a walk to start. He advanced to second on a groundout and scored when Luis Robert Jr. sent a sharp line drive to left field for an RBI single. Eloy Jiménez continued his hitting streak smacking an RBI single of his own.
Bryan Shaw closed out the night on the bump, securing a White Sox Victory.
