Ready or not, Opening Day here we come
‘Twas the night before Opening Day, spring is officially here!
Gone are those dark Chicago winter days, at least for another half the year.
The fans are ready with their peanuts and Cracker Jack,
So Sox don’t let us down, we don’t need to repeat last year’s wack.
121 losses, no one thought it could be done!
But it somehow happened, and everyone was stunned.
This year will be different, there’s no way it can’t,
I’m here to tell you why, so please, enjoy my rant.
Luis Robert Jr. is back to to slugging baseballs, even if just for a while,
And with him in the lineup, the Sox are better by a mile.
Miguel Vargas is stronger, and newcomers Josh Rojas and Mike Tauchman can hit,
It’s only a matter of time before the Sox start winning, not an if.
Pitchers Sean Burke, Davis Martin, and Shane Smith are ready to show
That determination and skill matter more than the number of innings they’ve thrown.
And If Martín Pérez and Jonathan Cannon can’t pitch deep into games,
Noah Schultz and Hagen Smith will be called soon, I’m sure you’ve heard those names.
Onto the bullpen, that was so overtaxed last year,
The Sox now have Penn Murfee and Cam Booser, so we’re all in the clear.
I know that’s not completely reassuring, but they’re a solid pair
To keep the Sox from blowing 35 saves again — yikes! What a nightmare.
And Kyle Teel, Chase Meidroth, and Colson Montgomery are on their way,
To put a pep in the Sox’s step, it’ll happen any day.
And now the Sox have Will Venable, so that’s promising enough,
He’s modern and hip, more relatable than Tony La Russa.
So sit back, relax, and strap it down.
The Sox have better days ahead, truly, so no need to frown.
White Sox — know that we’re all cheering for you.
Even if we’re pessimistic at times, we’re in it with you too.
