My alphabeticalish player-by-player review — @soxnerd style — of the 2024 White Sox continues with LENYN SOSA:
Some fun with some 2024 Sosa splits:
*His .435 average in the third inning was the highest by a Sox player (minimum 23 at bats) since Avisail Garcia’s .511 in 2017. Sosa’s average ranked second in the AL to Boston’s Masataka Yoshida’s .452 in 2034.
*His .750 on-base percentage at Wrigley Field in 2024 led the Majors (as did his .667 average) and was the highest in Sox history (min. six at bats).
*Sosa hit .374 in Sept./Oct. The last time a Sox righty bested that mark (minimum 80 at bats) was when Albert Belle hit .393 in 1998.
*Sosa’s .374 average in Sept./Oct. led the American League and was second in the Majors to Shohei Ohtani’s .393.
