My @soxnerd style alphabetical review of the 2023 White Sox continues with TIM ANDERSON..
TA’s lone homer of 2023 was a game-starting shot on July 29th off Cleveland’s Logan Allen at Guaranteed Rate Field.
The last Sox player whose only homer of a season was a game-starter was Steve Sax in 1993.
Sax and Anderson — who had similarly underachieving campaigns in these respective seasons — are the only Sox players to accomplish this since 1950.
Prior to ‘50, other Sox who have accomplished this are Thurman Tucker in 1946, John Stoneham in 1933 and Bill Hunnefield in 1930.
Records from 1901 to 1950 are not complete in this area.
