This was a fun moment in the bleachers yesterday
It was yet another year of the Cubs not quite making the playoffs. They finished 83-79 for the second year in a row. But the final weekend of the season played out at Wrigley Field with one last gem and an incredible send off for Kyle Hendricks, two shutout wins against the Reds and a lot of good vibes at the Friendly Confines.
Longtime left fielder Ian Happ contributed to those vibes in the left field well yesterday when he bought a round of beers for the regulars:

Ian Happ engages with the fans in left a lot. He signals every out to them just like he does the rest of the team. We’re all pretty sure he’s quite deliberate about who he throws a ball to at the end of every inning (oftentimes aiming for a kiddo, but sometimes aiming for a crew of bleacher creatures who aren’t paying attention). He once threw Bleacher Jeff a new city connect jersey.
Still, it’s not every day an MLB All Star says thank you by buying the regulars a round of beer. Jomboy Media, which has worked with Happ on his podcast, The Compound, was quick to share the Gold Glove outfielder’s generosity:

That second picture there was a fan toast to Happ after the beverages were procured. If you look close, you can see Ian acknowledge the fans as he warms up.
It was a toast to keep us all warm as we wait for Cubs baseball to return next season. Cheers, and thanks for the love, Ian. The feeling is mutual.
