He coached under Craig Counsell in Milwaukee, and also played briefly for the Cubs.
Quintin Berry, an outfielder, played in eight games for the Cubs in 2015. He also served as a coach for the Brewers under Craig Counsell for three years from 2021-23, and remained on Pat Murphy’s coaching staff in Milwaukee this past season.
Per this article in The Athletic, Berry is joining the Cubs as third-base coach for the 2025 season:
Berry, 39, helped burnish Milwaukee’s reputation as a team that does the little things well. He spent the past four years as the first-base coach, a promotion he earned after two seasons as the organization’s minor-league outfield and base-running coordinator.
That all sounds good, and Berry, who stole 21 bases without being caught for the Tigers in 2012, will likely help with outfield and baserunning work with the Cubs.
So there’s the first of Counsell’s coaches to join the Cubs staff. With several Cubs coaches from 2024 let go recently, there could be more.
As always, we await developments.
