Get out those tape measures, folks, Chicago Cubs baseball will continue to be on the air with the same familiar voices well into the future. As first reported by Sun-Times deputy sports editor/media columnist Jeff Agrest, Hall of Famer Pat Hughes and former Cub and All-Star Ron Coomer agreed to new multiyear contracts last week. Well, Hughes signed first and then Coom Dawg agreed. It’s not known whether either broadcaster had to fasten those seatbelts for what they felt could be a turning point in negotiations, but just listen to those fans celebrating the news.
Now maybe Jed Hoyer can get to work giving these guys a more exciting roster to cover through the duration of their deals.
