These games will decide the National League wild card clubs.
As you know, the Mets and Braves had two games postponed in Atlanta last week due to Hurricane Helene.
Since the games still are meaningful for playoff positioning, they’re being made up as a doubleheader this afternoon at Truist Park.
The situation is simple. If either team sweeps the doubleheader, that team and the Diamondbacks claim the last two wild card spots. If the doubleheader splits, the Braves and Mets are in and the D-backs are out.
You can see how that might lead to shenanigans. Hopefully that won’t be the case.
Here’s the info you’ll need for the two games, which will be broadcast on ESPN2, full national broadcast with no blackouts.
These are regular season games, so there’s no special rosters for it. Each team, though, will get a 29th man to use for the doubleheader, available for both games.
For the first game, RHP Tylor Megill will start for the Mets and RHP Spencer Schwellenbach gets the call for the Braves. Neither team has announced a starter for Game 2 — those likely depend on what happens in Game 1.
As noted in the headline, first pitch should come at 12:10 p.m. CT.

That should be all you need to keep track of these important games. Reminder, I’ll also have game threads here for every postseason game, beginning with the four wild card games on Tuesday.
Enjoy, and discuss amongst yourselves.
