A fond farewell to a fan favorite.
We have our first free-agent signing of a former Cub this offseason, and it’s not with the Cubs:

For this, I’m glad we all had that one final start in a Cubs uniform, which reminded us of all the great years he had in blue pinstripes.
Hendricks hasn’t thrown well for most of the last four seasons, though there were some good outings in with the bad. Kyle lives in southern California in the offseason, so this signing is a way for him to be at home all year, and I suspect this will be his final season. He turns 35 next month.
I’ll have an appreciation article for Kyle posting sometime soon. I wish him all the best going forward.
