We are still waiting on word about Kyle Tucker and Eli Morgan.
Today, Thursday, Jan. 9, was the deadline for teams and arbitration-eligible players to come to contract agreements for 2025 or the players would head to an arbitration hearing in the next few weeks.
Now, it is certainly possible for players and teams who didn’t agreed to term by the 12 noon CT deadline to work out a deal before a hearing takes placs. But in recent years, many teams have viewed this as a hard deadline and then “file and trial” with no further discussion.
I was going to wait until all the arb decisions had come out on social media, but as of late afternoon Thursday, we still have no word on the contract status of Kyle Tucker and Eli Morgan. But it’s getting late in the day, so I thought I’d go ahead and post about the two of the four arb-eligible Cubs who have signed 2025 contracts as of the time of this post.

This is slightly higher than the $6.4 million estimated by MLB Trade Rumors, but it’s still a very good value for Steele.
Nate Pearson and the Cubs have settled on a $1.35 million deal for 2025, per source, avoiding arbitration.

This is a tiny bit below the $1.4 million estimated by MLBTR.
When there’s news about Tucker and Morgan I’ll post another article. As always, we await developments.
